Inlet spherical valve is a high intelligent flow control system integrating mechanical, hydraulic and electric facilities. Valve body can be designed to various structure types to suit different working condition. Especially for integrated type valve, the integrated structure makes stress distributed evenly which is more suitable for high-head conventional hydro power plants and pumped-storage power plants.

 Inlet spherical valve is designed to install at the inlet end of the turbine of hydropower plant with high water head and pump application. The main purpose of the valve is to protect and ensure the safety of the turbine unit operation. It can cut off the upstream water source during the unit maintenance and overhaul. Especially when the turbine unit operates at runaway speed condition and guide vane can not be closed due to failure, inlet spherical valve can be closed to cut off water from spiral case emergently to prevent severe accident from happening.

 

Inlet spherical valve consists of hydraulic spherical valve (including hydraulic and electric control system), upstream connection pipe, downstream connection pipe,main dismantling joint, bypass pipeline system, air exhaust valve system, drainage system, etc.

 

Hydraulic spherical valve is composed of valve body,rotor, tunnion & bearig, sealing device and operation mechanisn,etc.


According to the working conditions, it can be classified into the conventional hydro power station hydraulic spherical valve and pumped storage power station hydraulic spherical valve.


According to field operation,the spherical valve can be classified into valve with accumulator (open and close by hydraulic), valve with counterweight (open by hydraulic and close by counterweight) and valve with water pressure operation (open and close by water pressure).


According to valve body structure, the spherical valve can be classified into integral type, symmetric oblique- segmented type, non-symmetric vertical-segmented type and symmetric middle -segmented type.


The bearing is lead free and self-lubricating with good loading capacity and wear resistance.


The packing at end of trunnion adopts a box-type self-tightening double sealing structure which has excellent sealing effect.


Operation system has various selections: open valve by hydraulic and close valve by counterweight; open and close valve by hydraulic or water.
