Sales of home appliances to rural areas in China (excluding sales in provinces of Shandong, Henan, Sichuan, and Qingdao City) reached 30.11 million units in first five months of 2012, hitting 79.88 billion yuan, down by 5.7% and up by 4.4% respectively. In May, sales of home appliances to rural areas reached 6.81 million units, hitting 18.28 billion yuan, up by 67.1% and 72.6% respectively. A total of 248 million units of home appliances were sold to rural areas by the end of May 2012, with sales values hitting 585.77 billion yuan, and total subsidy of 68.16 billion yuan.



By province, the top three in sales value were Hebei, Anhui and Jiangsu, accounting for 33.8% of the total in the country. By commodity, sales of color TV sets, refrigerators, air conditioners and water heaters exceeded 10 billion yuan respectively, accounting for 81.8% of the total sales. By enterprise, Haier, Hisense and Media ranked top three in sales as 9.93 billion yuan, 6.72 billion yuan and 5.51 billion yuan respectively, totally accounting for 27.7% of the national sales.
