Nantong Mingde Heavy Industry Group was established in October 2004. It is a fast-grow up private enterprise and its business engages mainly in shipbuilding and off-shore engineering industry. It has a total investment of US$ 200 million.
    The Group is located on the lower reaches of Hongbeisha at the northern part of the Yangtze River Nantong section. It is distributed along 1,600m of the river bank, occupying an area of 1,330,000©O. It currently has 8,000 employees. It is rationally laid-out and well equipped, with one 10,000DWT slipway, one 30,000DWT slipway, one 50,000DWT slipway, one 350m-by-98m dry dock, and five outfitting quays of a total length of 2500m and water depth of -12m. It has a ship hull processing workshop, a sectioning workshop, a pipe processing workshop, a painting workshop, outfitting workshops, etc., covering a total area of about 110,000 ©O, equipped with120 various lifting equipments, and the annual steel manufacture capacity is 300,000 tons.
