Bacillus thuringiensis (BT) is a soil bacterium that forms spores during the stationary phase of its growth cycle. The spores contain crystals, predominantly comprising one or more Cry and & or Cyt proteins (also known as δ-endotoxins) that have potent and specific insecticidal activity.

Scope of application


  1. It is used in agriculture and forestry.

  2. It has different pathogenic and toxic effects on more than 100 kinds of pests such as cotton bollworm, cabbage caterpillar, poisonous moth, pine caterpillar, corn borer, and sorghum. It also has a preventive effect on pests such as root-knot nematodes and mites.
