Sales of home appliances to rural areas reached 50.938 million units in first half of 2011, hitting 124.575 billion yuan, up by 56.7% and 83.7% year-on-year respectively. A total of 165 million units of home appliances were sold to rural areas as of June 30, 2011, with sales values hitting 366.37 billion yuan, and total subsidy volume was 42.5 billion yuan.

In June, sales of home appliance to rural areas totaled 5.708 million units, down by 4.4%, with sales value hitting 15.05 billion yuan, an increase of 11%. By region, sales value of four provinces including Shandong and Henan exceeded 1 billion yuan, accounting for 41.8% of the total in the country. By commodity, sales of refrigerators, color TV sets and air conditioners exceeded 2 billion yuan, accounting for 73.7% of the total sales. The top three in terms of brand were: Haier, Hisense and Midea.
