On October 21, 2019, the 3rd China-Pacific Island Countries Economic Development and Cooperation Forum was held in Apia, the Capital of Samoa. Vice Premier of State Council of China H.E. Hu Chunhua attended the opening ceremony and main forum, and read out Chinese President H.E. Xi Jinping's congratulatory. The forum is co-sponsored by Ministry of Commerce of China, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, China International Development Cooperation Agency and Samoa Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and is organized by China Chamber of Commerce of Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME).

On the morning of October 21, the opening ceremony and main forum of 3rd China-Pacific Island Countries Economic Development and Cooperation Forum were held in Samoa Government Convention Center. Vice Premier of State Council of China H.E. Hu Chunhua, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Independent State of Samoa Hon. Tuilaepa Malielegaoi and heads of states or ministers from Vanuatu, Tonga, Micronesia, Cook Islands, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Kiribati and Niue together with the heads of the relevant regional organizations attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches respectively. Co-chaired by Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Shouwen and CEO of Samoa Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade Ms. Peseta Noumea Simi, the forum attracted more than 500 political and business representatives from China and Pacific island countries.

Four sub-forums themed on trade, agriculture, forestry and fishery, tourism and infrastructure investment, environmental protection and climate change were held on the afternoon of October 21. They set up a platform of dialogue for China and Pacific island countries to discuss promoting economic cooperation and development. After the sub-forums, more than 90 enterprises from China and Pacific island countries conducted in-depth matchmaking in a warm atmosphere.
