Ethiopia - Djibouti Railway

Ethiopia - Djibouti Railway was officially opened on October 5, 2016. The total length of the railway is 751.7 kilometers with the design speed of 120 km/h. The whole line adopts China’s electrified railway construction standard (Level 2), with a total investment of about $4 billion. The project was implemented by China Railway Group and CRRC through EPC general contracting.
During the construction, it created about 48 thousand jobs, and fostered more than $400 million export of Chinese mechanical equipment, communication engineering, signal engineering, electrical engineering and electrical engineering and construction materials. In addition, Chinese company won the operation right for six years, which realized Chinese participation transforming from equipment supply and construction in the early stage to exporting the leading design, technology, operation and maintenance of the whole industry chain.
