On June 6, 2017, CCCME Vice President Liu Chun met with the Executive Director Brian Connors of Michigan-China Innovation Center and representatives from Michigan Economic Development Corporation. The two sides exchanged views on issues concerning Governor of Michigan State Rick Snyder’s upcoming visit to China, and maintaining frequent communication with each side.
Vice President Liu welcomed Director Connors, and extended gratitude to his team for receiving CCCME trade and investment delegation in Detroit and co-hosting China-Michigan Business Match-making Forum on May 11. As the person in charge of Chinese Secretariat for China Provinces and US Michigan Joint Working Group on Trade and Economic Cooperation, Vice President Liu expressed the willingness to continuously cooperate with the US Secretariat in an effort to intensify communication, to pass on the trade and investment projects information, and to hold pragmatic match-makings.
Director Connors agreed with the proposal, and introduced the preliminary itinerary of Governor Snyder’s visit to China scheduled in early August. The Governor will lead a delegation of over 10 enterprises in such fields as automotive, clean technology, bio-pharmaceuticals to China. Mr. Connors made the request for CCCME’s assistance in coordinating the suggested events on the sidelines of Governor’s visit.
Vice President Liu stressed that the Chinese secretariat will render any necessary support for the US counterpart, and she suggested the two sides should exchange next years’ working plan of the joint group in advance, so as to make the events more effective and fruitful.
