PHNOM PENH - A Chinese developer has sought support from Cambodia to develop an expressway from Phnom Penh City to the airport, according to a statement released by Cambodian side on Tuesday.
"In a meeting with Cambodian deputy Prime Minister Keat Chhon on Monday, Chang Xingwen, chairman of the China's Henan Provincial Communications Planning Survey and Design Institute, raised a proposal to build an expressway from Phnom Penh City to the Phnom Penh International Airport in the form of Build-Operate- Transfer (BOT)," the statement said.
The company wanted to develop the expressway from the Camko City roundabout to the airport in the estimated length of 12 km.
For his part, Keat Chhon voiced his full support for the construction of the project, saying that it will contribute to reducing traffic jams in the city.
It is unknown when the project will start and how much it will cost.
