China's mobile gaming market surges to 11b yuan
HANGZHOU - China's mobile gaming market in 2013 was worth more than 11.24 billion yuan ($1.84 billion), said government authorities at a gaming industry summit on Wednesday.
Mobile gaming gained over 246 percent year on year in 2013, said Song Jianxin, director with the digital publishing department of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.
The sector covered about one eighth of the country's total gaming market, said Song at the summit in Hangzhou, in East China's Zhejiang province.
Mobile gaming is increasing among players because of better mobile devices, as well as an improved 3G network and license for the 4G network, said Song.
The administration is supporting the industry in both key projects and policy, to boost innovation and combat illegal behaviors, he added.
