Radio, film and TV industries output $57b in '12
China's radio, film and television industries reported revenues totaling 347.7 billion yuan ($56.7 billion) in 2012, up 20.11-percent year-on-year, according to an official report released Thursday.
The strong growth was mostly driven by the advertising and cable network sectors, as well as surging box office revenues, according to a report issued by the State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.
Advertising revenues amounted to nearly 127 billion yuan, up 13.12 percent from the previous year, while the cable network sector grabbed about 66 billion yuan, a 17.24-percent increase year-on-year, the report said.
Box office revenues hit 17 billion yuan last year, up 30.18 percent from 2011, marking an average annual growth of 34.22 percent from 2002 to 2012.
