China (Beijing) E-commerce Conference 2012 Opened in Beijing

China (Beijing) E-commerce Conference 2012 was opened in Beijing on May 29. Mr. Jiang Yaoping, Vice Minister of Commerce, attended and addressed the opening ceremony.



Mr. Jiang said that driven by advanced technology and market demands, China’s E-commerce has developed rapidly, the scale of markets have been expanded continually as well as the application modes have been innovated. China’s E-commerce volume of trade amounted to 5.88 trillion yuan, up by 29.2% as compared with the same period of the previous year, and was equivalent to 12.5% of GDP in the year of 2011. Total volume of retail goods online surpassed 750 billion yuan, which was equal to more than 4% of total retail volume of social consumer goods.



Mr. Jiang pointed out that China’s E-commerce is still in its primary stage, therefore, local commercial departments should improve the working systems; strengthen cooperations with other departments and e-commerce training and the development of qualified personnel; bring positive factors, like intermediary agencies and experts into play; improve e-commerce development environment; promote theoretical research; step up building of backup system the infrastructure of e-commerce, authentication, payment, logistics, credit and others, so as to promote constantly the healthy and orderly development of e-commerce.



In the Conference, 34 National e-commerce demonstration bases were awarded and MOFCOM e-commerce experts’ advisory committee was established and ten experts were conferred letters of appointment. MOFCOM issued Report on China E-commerce 2010-2011 during the Conference. 1500 representatives from SDRC, MIIT, PBC, GAC, SAT, NBS, local commercial departments, national e-commerce demonstrated base, and famous e-commerce enterprises experts attended the opening ceremony.



China (Beijing) E-commerce Conference was supported by MOFCOM and the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality, and sponsored by Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce. The date of the conference is from May 29 to 31. Apart from the opening ceremony, five other forums would be held, namely, Dialogues among Chinese and Foreign E-commerce CEOs, the Application and Mode Innovation of E-commerce, Talents of E-commerce and Demands for E-commerce Entrepreneurs, Close-door Investment and Financing workshop.
