Electronics, information sectors' revenues up 20 pct
The sales revenues of China's electronics and information industries rose more than 20 percent to 9.3 trillion yuan(1.48 trillion U.S. dollars) in 2011, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced Monday.
Enterprises with annual business revenues above 20 million yuan contributed around 7.5 trillion yuan of that total, earning 17.1 percent more than the year before. Meanwhile, these large firms' profits surged 16.8 percent to 330 billion yuan, the MIIT data showed.
The sales revenue of China's software industry also hit a record high of nearly 1.85 trillion yuan in 2011, up 35.9 percent year-on-year.
In 2011, the nation produced 1.13 billion cell phones, 320 million computers and 120 million television sets, according to the data.
Fast development in the two sectors has also contributed to employment in China. Enterprises involved in the two industries helped provide 600,000 new jobs nationwide last year, according to the MIIT.
